The Bible gives examples of the gathering of different peoples; we were not created to be alone but relational.
During the creation narrative, all things God created were labeled good, except for Adam being alone.
Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. (Authorized Version)
Thinking this week on the relational aspect of humanity, we naturally group with people we relate to. We sometimes wrongfully separate from others based on our dispositions as well. What sports team do you pull for (Case in point)?
Have you thought about Heaven? It is a place of fully realized relationships for those who have placed their trust in Jesus Christ (John 14:1-6).
John 14:1-6 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
It is a place of togetherness with other believers and God himself.
Revelation 21:1-4 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
In contrast, Hell is a place of separation and isolation that was never meant for humanity.
Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepaed for the devil and his angels:
Matthew 22:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
There will be no partying in hell, no gathering in hell, just separation and isolation from anything lovely, good, and delightful. NO WONDER GOD is seeking out people so they can gain Heaven and miss Hell.
Just thinking...
